Dusty's Halloween Tirade

“Why do you let him do weird things like that?” Dusty demanded of his older partner, referring of course to the youngest member of their family.

At Dennis’ raised eyebrow, he clarified the statement. “You didn’t even try to stop him from attending that Tupperware party. Even worse, you let him have one of his own. I know he’s my fellow-Brat and I love him to bits, but it’s just really weird, man.”

“He had fun and no one got hurt. Although I must admit some may have found it a little awkward at first.” Dennis smiled when his admission garnished a snort from the other man.

“But look at him now. We’re here at your annual faculty Halloween costume party and he’s dressed up as the back end of a cow. Who does stuff like that anyway?”

Dennis’ shrug of seemingly indifference only added to Dusty’s frustration. “I suggested he be Snoopy to go along with me being Charlie Brown. But no, he wanted to do his own thing.”

“Ah-ah,” Dennis murmured, then chuckled at the sour expression on Dusty’s face.

Dusty didn’t bother questioning the response indicating his Top had just experienced a ‘light-bulb’ moment. “That costume is too big for the kid. He looks ridiculous with that oversized waist, the shortened suspenders and that atrocious, hard plastic, pink udder with the dangling rubber-like teats that people keep going over to and touching.”

“You’re sounding almost as disgruntled as the character you’re portraying often is, my love. Everyone else seems to be enjoying themselves, especially our young partner.”

Dusty glanced up at the alpha male beside him and wished they were home so he could tackle the handsome man. “At least you winning the ‘Best Costume Award’ for that gorgeous Roman gladiator outfit salvaged a little of our family dignity.”

Dennis pointed to the stage where the master of ceremonies was about to announce the final winner. “Pay attention,” he hissed the command.

Dusty eyes almost popped out of his head and his mouth dropped opened when Skyy won the ‘Funniest Costume Award’. He turned his back to the room and leaned his forehead against the wall. “Good grief!” he groaned and long-sufferingly listened to Dennis’ teasing laughter.
